Alburnett sits just north of Marion in Linn County. The town was founded in the 1870's and was a stop along the railway making it a trading community. The town was named after a local business man Albert Burnett and was originally named just Burnett. But this was causing some confusion with another small community in Easter Iowa named Bennett so they changed the name of the town to Alburnett. Alburnett residents enjoy the services of a local restuarant, convient store and bank but because can also utilize many city conveniences that are just miles away in Marion and Cedar Rapids.
